Items to consider when hiring a Professional Interior Designer

  • Be certain the designer is licensed as per ASID Standards and State Laws.
  • Be careful to choose a designer that relates well to your style preference and needs.
  • Have an understanding of your own budget as well as what you would like to accomplish with your designer.
  • Ask for references and, if possible, check them out.
  • Ask for a written agreement that defines project scope and clearly explains fee structures.
  • Ask about their insurance coverage on project purchases made on your behalf.
  • Be prepared for unanticipated surprises and/or delays that may occur from changes or unknown factors; establish a contingency fund to cover the additions.
  • Remember to listen to your Designer first. You hired a professional to advise you.

Interior designers are trained qualified professionals who provide creative solutions through research and application of a broad scope of disciplines including special emphasis on the health, safety and environmental well being of others.

Interior designers create functional, beautiful, and well planned spaces that enhance the lives of their clients.

Professional interior designers are examined and licensed by Boards of Architectural Examiners, which monitor the ethics and practice of interior design, architecture, and landscape architecture.
