Renovation is the lifeblood of Design Works. Even when we work on new construction projects, we incorporate elements from the owner’s previous home. Whether we are carrying forward something from their current residence or travels, or starting fresh, there is always an element of restoration somewhere in the process.

Renovation or remodeling projects require special attention to virtually every detail; balancing the feasibility of saving something old and broken down with the prospect of destroying it for new, takes many things into consideration.

ASK yourself these important questions before you consider a renovation:

  • What does it cost? Sometimes the cost is well worth the effort, however sometimes restoration is so costly that only the larger budget can sustain it.
  • Is it replaceable? Some old, run down elements are simply not around anymore. These might be worth saving at any cost.
  • Will it add to the overall beauty and enjoyment of the space?
  • Will I miss it if I never see it again?
  • Does it have any value to someone else?
  • Are the craftsmen available to save it properly?

If renovation is your chosen path, OUR PROCESS includes the following:

  • Assessing the project scope, in a clear concise manner early on, is key.
  • Addressing the needs of the clients while at the same time assessing the feasibility of adapting the space for the intended use.
  • Discussing whether the budget is realistic to prevent disappointment later on..
  • Striving to make the renovation process as simple and straightforward as possible.
  • Utilizing the best contractors and manufacturers; people we trust and know will be there to provide the level of service and attention to detail we require.
